Keda Cultural Route

About this place

The route starts from the village of Gobroneti in the Keda municipality, near the descending road close to the two currently existing guesthouses in the village (Zebo, Tsqarostvali), from where we turn north-east and head towards the villages of Akho and Gegelidzeebi. Here, the route follows a slightly sloping dirt road downhill. The route passes directly through the villages, thus giving you the opportunity to explore the lifestyle of Adjarian villages. In the village of Akho, there is one of the oldest mosques in the Adjara region, from which the route proceeds via a narrow dirt road to the village of Gegelidzeebi. Here, it first passes by the house-museum of the famous Adjarian poet Fridon Khalvashi, where you have the opportunity to view various items related to the poet's life and get better acquainted with his work; afterwards, the route ends at Nuri Sirabidze's family marani (wine cellar) located in the same village, where the visitor has the opportunity to taste homemade qvevri wine and Georgian cuisine. The given tourist route follows the right slope of the Acharistskali River for almost its entire length, from which beautiful views open up both of the valley itself and of the villages of mountainous Adjara scattered across the slopes of the valley.
